Maimane

Cape Town – Leader of Build One South Africa (Bosa), Mmusi Maimane, has announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential elections.

He launched Bosa’s election campaign in Tshwane as the party celebrated its first anniversary, emphasising the need for change and prosperity for all citizens.

Maimane acknowledged the challenge of defeating the ANC but expressed confidence in achieving it, likening it to the David and Goliath story.

He outlined Bosa’s key priorities, including a focus on job creation.

Maimane pledged to put a job in every home by investing over R200 billion in economic zones in townships and implementing a programme for unemployed individuals to participate in six-month internships at government institutions to gain experience.

“Let’s put a job in every home and we do that by making sure our townships are places of economic zones where we can invest over R200 billion to create new jobs and wealth for our citizens.

“We are going to roll out an extended Public Works Programme to make sure that every person who is unemployed gets an opportunity to work,” Maimane said.

He further announced that his party would implement a program enabling every unemployed individual to participate in a six-month internship within a government institution. This initiative aims to equip job seekers with valuable experience, enabling them to respond with, “Here is my talent,” when employers require prior work experience.

“We will introduce a jobs and justice fund capital fund, I want all the companies who have benefitted from the past to contribute to a jobs and justice fund so that we can fund new businesses,” he said.

Maimane also discussed improving trade relations with the United States, European Union, and African countries, addressing the energy crisis, and promoting renewable energy in South Africa.
